With public safety a top priority, most of the major events held annually by the Mid-Ulster District Council have been canceled in the last 18 months due to epidemics, with only small events that keep visitors Covid safe. Enabled to participate in the way forward.
However, with the road ahead looking more positive, the council is now temporarily planning to return to several popular events since the summer.
Councilor Dominic Molay, chairman of the council’s development committee, welcomed the suggestions.
“As the restrictions soften and the weather improves, we are all looking forward to going out with our friends and family this summer, if possible,” he said.
“The council’s event program gives us the opportunity to meet and celebrate throughout the year, which we have all missed so much. Public safety remains a priority for us, so we will continue to review management guidelines. Changes for all of our residents and visitors to safely enjoy the fun and successful events this coming year. “
Here are some of the events that temporarily returned this year:
Cox Town Continental Market
Launched in Cookstown in partnership with the Cookstown Town Center Forum, Market Place Europe will once again bring its popular Continental Market to William Street in the market town of Midstar on Saturday and Sunday, May 28-29.
Magherafelt’s town center will be revived on Saturday, June 18, as the council, in partnership with the Magherafelt Town Center Forum and the local hospitality business, offers a choice of free family-friendly entertainment throughout the town center.
With the annual Newell 10K and 5K Run, a free Family Fun evening will be held on Friday, June 24 in Lineside, Colesland, as the Council provides an evening in partnership with the local community, Newell Stores and the Cape ‘Air Lit Running Club. she does. Maghira Wald Garden Summer Event
The free Family Fun Day will feature a jam-packed program of fun and activities for children of all ages to enjoy in the beautiful surroundings of the Wald Garden.
The newly built Ballerina Marina will be lit up with spectacular fireworks and will host lots of fun and activities for the family during the Lumarina Festival on Friday and Saturday, August 19-20.
Halloween firework display
By the end of 2022, the store will have a lot of items as the fuse will once again light up in Halloween fireworks displays in Maghira, Dungan, Cox’s Town (Mid-Ulster Sports Arena) and Colesland. Expect lots of family friendly entertainment before the main event.
The opportunity to see the Christmas lights in Cookstown, Dungannon, Magherafelt, Coalisland and Maghera will once again bring Christmas joy to all, with various celebrations from November 25 to December 4. The festive season will also include the return of Dungannon Magical Kingdom. O’Neill and Ranfurly House Hill, and the Magherafelt Christmas Market, are both scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, November 25-26.
