CALLUM HUDSON-ODOI was worried about whether he would change his international allegiance from England to Ghana.

The Chelsea winger, 19, has appeared three times for the senior side of the Three Lions, although his last outing was in 2019.

He was called up for the Under-21s in August, but turned down an offer to join Lee Carsley’s squad.

And England boss Gareth Southgate announced that the Blues had also turned down an opportunity to represent their country in November.

He forced the Blues’ Geffer Thomas Tochl to say that the forward would have to face the “consequences” of being denied the opportunity to play for England.

Hudson Odoi was claimed last year to be “disappointed” with the FA after dropping out of the senior squad.

The young man is still able to represent Ghana due to his dual citizenship and the fact that he wore three hats before the age of 21.

Under FIFA rules, it should not increase its three caps, while it will have to wait a total of three years after its last outing in England to apply for a change of nations.

Addressing Evening standardHudson O’Dwyer was asked if he would play for England in the World Cup in Qatar and would reject Ghana.

To which he replied: “I do not know. At the end of the day, we will wait until that time.”

“At the same time, I just have to focus on the club until we get to that point.”

After refusing to lend a hand to Borussia Dortmund last summer, Hudson has become a key player under Odui Tochl.

He has scored three goals and six assists in 27 games for Chelsea in all competitions during this period.

And he recently helped West London Club win the Club World Cup by beating Brazilian team Palmeiras 2-1.

Following the trophy’s success, Hudson-Odoi thanked Tochl for moving away from Stamford Bridge.

He remarked: “Such big trophies are the sport you want to be associated with such a club.

“Big games, big trophies, you want to win as much as you can with a club like this.

“Our goal is always to win the game and win as much as possible. We keep pushing when we get the chance.

“If I go out in the summer, I don’t get a chance to play and enjoy games like this and win trophies.

“So I’m really glad I stayed and obviously I got a chance to play.”
