WhatsApp is ready to introduce a new feature that will allow users to add cover photos to their profile.
Cover photos are already a big part of Facebook and are designed to make profiles more interesting, allowing users to add their own personal touch.
Since both WhatsApp and Facebook are owned by Meta, it is not surprising that the two will soon share similar features.
But this feature has also been borrowed by other social networks, users can also set a cover image on their profile on Twitter.
When will cover images be added?
WhatsApp has begun testing the initial version of the feature on the beta version of the app, and is currently only being tested for business accounts.
However, it is possible that it will be offered to the general public at some point in the future.
Was seen by the test WABetaInfoWhich regularly features new and upcoming features.
The site said: “WhatsApp is working on a new feature that allows you to set cover photos for your profile.
“WhatsApp is planning to introduce a camera button in your business settings: you can select a photo or take a new photo to use as a cover photo.
“When other people (including standard WhatsApp user accounts) visit your business profile, they will be able to see your cover photo.
“Although the screenshot was taken from WhatsApp Business for iOS, WhatsApp is considering introducing the same feature on WhatsApp Business for Android.”
As this feature is still in development, there is currently no confirmation as to when it will be introduced.
Can other new features be added?
WhatsApp is also reportedly working on a feature that will allow users to create “communities” in future updates.
This feature will allow group admins to bring different groups together and send messages to all members at once, effectively linking them all together.
WhatsApp features tracker WABetaInfo said: “This is a private space where group admins have more control over certain groups on WhatsApp, which will be available in future updates of the app.
“It’s like a group chat and group admins are able to link to other groups in the community.
The feature is currently in development but was spotted in the WhatsApp beta for the iOS 126.96.36.199 update.
The WhatsApp Communities feature is said to make it easier for group admins to bring different groups together in one place for easy access.
“Furthermore, with the Communities feature, administrators will be able to reach all group members at once.”
As with cover photos, this feature is not yet available as it is still in development and there is currently no known release date.
