A dying mother heard a man “quiet” her son through a baby monitor purchased on Amazon – for fear that the family would be spied on for weeks.

Claire Cummings, 25, claims that her baby, Eden, used to wake up screaming every night around 2 p.m., apparently without explanation.

She says that in just a few weeks, her attitude towards her happy and healthy two-year-old changed dramatically and she was terrified of her bedroom.

The nurse said she would occasionally wake up at night to hear a quiet noise coming from the tote’s room, but thought she was dreaming.

But out of fear, Claire and her husband, Jamie, 31, noticed a cooling sound coming from their Victor Baby Monitor Wi-Fi indoor camera.

The couple said they heard a male voice trying to comfort their son, causing him to “cry in fear”.

Claire fears the baby could be seen for weeks after she was put to bed – as she pointed to the £ 19.99 device.

The 25-year-old from West Lutheran, Scotland, explained: “It’s been weeks since he woke up crying at night, but not normal crying, it was a terrible cry.

“It simply came to our notice then. He was too scared to go to his room. He would scream if you took him to his room.”

He will shout and point at the monitor.

“I was awake one night and I thought I heard someone pressing through the monitor but I thought I was dreaming or imagining it.

“A few days later I heard it again, a loud ‘sh’ noise.

“It didn’t look like the monitor could make a sound. It looked like someone was mumbling. Then my son started screaming. I went in and he panicked.”

The sick parents then decided to try to catch the “strange man” who they thought was spying on their son at night.

But after installing a camera in their room to monitor it, the couple fell asleep before 2 p.m.

It scares me to think that someone is watching. I was really upset at the thought that someone was watching and I really felt guilty.

After unplugging the child’s monitor, Claire says, Eden miraculously stopped waking up at night and finally started playing again in her bedroom.

He continued: “I feel so guilty that I didn’t realize it soon. We plugged in the monitor and in a few weeks he fell asleep again.

“It’s a shame we didn’t click first. We brought him down and tried to stand up to catch whatever was scaring him, but we didn’t stay up all night. Then we threw him away.”

“We were terrified ourselves because we were turning it into a room. We didn’t know what the stranger saw,” he said.

“I am terrified at the thought that someone is watching him. I was worried that someone might be watching him and I really feel guilty.

“We had to get her used to her bedroom during the day and play with her there.”

Delivery driver Dade Jamie bought a baby monitor when his son was born so Claire could see her son at work.

Claire added: “We heard it was happening to other people, but we didn’t think it would happen to us.

“We had the password but it didn’t make it much more secure. I don’t know how it happened.”

Amazon said third party sellers are independent businesses and all products offered in their stores must comply with applicable laws and regulations.

The company said it does not allow the sale of Internet-connected devices with information that could compromise the security of an item, such as default password information.

It appears that the model is not currently listed on the online retail company’s website.
