A girl who had been missing for two years was found in a secret room under the stairs of her grandfather’s house.
When police found Paisley Schultz, the starving six-year-old girl asked in a startled tone if she could go to a McDonald’s dinner where they bought her happy food.
Police had earlier searched the house in Saugerties, New York, several times in search of him because they had long suspected he had been abducted by biological mother and father, Kim Cooper and Kirk Schultz.
But a signal led them back to the property, and this time they searched under the stairs leading to the basement, when an officer noticed something strange, said Sojourtis Police Chief Joseph Sinagra.
Eventually an officer spotted what he thought was a blanket, and the police began tearing down the stairs before they could see the “little feet.”
Paisley was hiding in a hole with her mother, and was taken to the local police station.
On the way, he passed a McDonald’s and when he told the spies that he had not had McDonald’s for so long, they returned and fed him. CBS2 report.
Paisley was eventually released and is now reunited with her older sister and an unknown legal guardian.
She will now begin the rehabilitation process, Senagra explained.
“We are convinced that he may not have been receiving adequate medical care,” he said.
“Obviously, the family could not take her to the doctor because she was a missing person.
“Another concern is that you have a child who does not read or write because he did not get a chance to go to school. They will now.”
The police chief also said that Paisley had his own bedroom with his name written on the wall.
Paisley was last seen in July 2019 at the home of his legal guardians in Spencer, New York.
“There was a reason they lost custody of the children,” Sinagra said, adding that Paisley’s older sister has been with her legal guardian since 2019.
Cooper has been charged with second-degree detention and endangering a child’s well-being.
Schultz has been charged with aggravated burglary in the first degree and misconduct that endangered the welfare of a child.
Her father, Kirk Schultz, was also charged with aggravated burglary in the first degree and endangering the welfare of a child.
It was revealed that he had lied to the police about his whereabouts of Paisley.
