DUNDEE has appointed Mark McGhee as its new manager.

James McPack’s tenure at Dennis Park ended Wednesday afternoon after two-and-a-half years in charge.

And Dundee announced McGhee’s appointment in a statement. website this morning.

It read: “Dundee Football Club is pleased to announce that Mark McGee has been named the club’s manager today.

“He arrived at the club with Simon Risk to join Dave McKay who is helping Mark.

Mark’s first role in management was with Readingback after a successful playing career in 1991, which saw him join Newcastle United, Aberdeen, and Celtic, among others.

He moved to Leicester City, then to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Millwall and Brighton, and Howe Bayon before heading north to the border.

“In 2007, he joined Motherwell for his first spell charge at Fir Park.

“After a spell in Aberdeen, Bristol Rovers hired another Scotland assistant under Gordon Strachan.

He returned to Motherwell in 2015 and went to manage Barnett two years later.

His last role was to work as an assistant manager in Stockport County, working under Simon.

The Dark Blues sit at the bottom of the Premiership table as they fight to retain their place in the top flight.

Former Aberdeen and Motherwell boss McGhee Celtic will be in charge of Sunday’s league showdown – but a great touchline ban means they won’t be in the dugout.
