Max Verstappen’s F1 world title win should not be reversed, insists Karun Chandhok.
The FIA’s decision to remove Michael Massey from the post of race director effectively acknowledges that Australia made a costly mistake that led to Lewis Hamilton losing the title.
But analyst and former F1 driver Caron Chandhock believes that “too many variables” justified Hamilton’s handover of the WrestleMania Championship.
“I’m not sure the result should be reversed,” he told Sky Sports.
“I think there are a lot of variables involved in this process, just to say, ‘If the lapped cars had stayed there, Lewis would have won 100 percent.’
“I don’t think you can say that for sure. Even Mercedes can’t say that for sure. So I don’t think the result can be reversed.”
The problem arose from an aunt’s call that allowed Verstappen to open up behind the safety car – leaving Hamilton a duck sitting on old tires.
The new head of the FIA, Mohammed bin Saleem, has since announced structural changes, including the deployment of a virtual race control room as part of a “new race management team” that will replace Auntie’s old role. ۔

Speaking at the launch of today’s Mercedes car, team principal Tutu Wolf was pleased with the result.
The Austrian, who was angry with his aunt in Abu Dhabi, said: “I think it is very encouraging to see that action has been taken. There is now a much stronger structure.
The FIA says there will be a virtual race control room with state-of-the-art technology.
“And the new boys are going to make room for the Barcelona Test and I think these are the right steps. This is a new era for the game.”
I never said I was going to stop.
At the launch, Hamilton finally broke his silence over retirement rumors, insisting he was excited ahead of the new season.
He said: “I never said I was going to stop. I like to do what I do, and it’s an honor to work with this large group of people.
“You really feel like you’re part of a team and part of a family, working for that common goal. It doesn’t make sense.
“But yes; obviously it was a difficult time for me, and it was a time when I really needed to take a step back and focus on being present. I was surrounded by my family, and great moments. Were creating
“And I finally got to a point where I decided I was going to attack another season, and work with Tutu and George. [Russell].
