Australian defense officials have condemned the “dangerous” actions of a Chinese navy ship when it allegedly fired a laser at an Oz fighter jet.

The military-grade laser beam, which could potentially blind pilots, was reported earlier this week amid ongoing tensions over the South China Sea dispute.

A Chinese navy ship has been accused of firing lasers.

According to Sydney Morning HeraldThe Republic of China Naval Destroyer leased the RAFF Poseidon aircraft in a process that was considered “unsafe and unprofessional” in violation of international rules and agreements.

Authorities confirmed the incident when the Luoyang class-guided missile destroyer was spotted crossing the Arafura Sea on Thursday.

A statement from the Australian Department of Defense confirmed that it had detected the laser as it passed through the country’s “northern view” because it later warned it could be life-threatening. Can

The government said in a statement that it “strongly condemns the unprofessional and unsafe conduct of the military. These actions could have endangered the safety and lives of ADF personnel.”

“Such measures do not meet the standards we expect from professional soldiers.”

He later confirmed that the ship, accompanied by another People’s Liberation Army-Navy ship, had been tracked by HMAS Launceston as it passed through the Coral Sea.

The incident marks the latest controversy over China’s territorial ambitions in the Asia-Pacific region, including the South China Sea.

Rory Medcalf, head of the National Security College at the Australian National University, called the action “dangerous and unacceptable” because it was “happening in our backyard.”

“It emphasizes the strategic logic of the Pacific action and that our military needs to be vigilant around our coastline,” he said.

“It also points to a new level of recklessness in China’s military behavior in our backyard.”

The comments came as Australia announced a landmark security agreement with the United States and Britain that was seen as an attempt to counter Chinese aggression.

The AUKUS defense alliance includes an agreement under which two Western companies will share nuclear secrets.

China immediately condemned the agreement, calling it “extremely irresponsible.”

Meanwhile, ministry spokesman Xiao Lijian said it “seriously undermines regional peace and stability and intensifies the arms race.”
